EQ Rangers Vol. 1 (Model 2890) consist of three EQ plug-ins: Vox Ranger, Bass Ranger and Full Ranger. These "Analog Code" plug-ins are based upon the EQ modules of the SPL RackPack series. They combine the sound of passive filters with extremely efficient operation.

While Bass Ranger and Vox Ranger are specialized to process their specific frequency ranges, the Full Ranger complements the specialists with a set of filter bands that covers the whole frequency range.

The concept of the SPL EQ Ranger plug-ins is characterized by two decisive features that separate them from traditional designs:

EQ Specialists: First there is the basic idea of specialized modules for typical instrument or vocal ranges. In contrast to static graphical EQs with always the same center frequencies in repeating octave distances, the Ranger EQ modules are much better suited to work with specific instruments and their peculiarities - and only different frequency ranges allow to effectively separate instruments in a mix.

Sound Access: The second characterizing feature follows the idea of a modular design and affects both the filter technology and the user interface. Why did we chose a graphic EQ design? For a fully parametric EQ with all necessary controls there would have been space for one band on the module front. However, our graphic EQ offers eight bands - offering flexible access to a large scale of frequency control without the need for additional a bandwidth controls etc. which would make access less direct again.

Settings: The "Settings" feature allows to store four different sets of adjustments. Much faster than with the usual save and recall presets dialogs, the settings can be stored and recalled by just one click. The Settings A, B, C, D can be included into the automation of host applications to apply different sets of parameters to different parts of a song.

SPL.Analog.Code.MicroPlugs.VST.RTAS.v1.1-AiR

Analog Code MicroPlug Attacker: The Transient Designer's attack enhancement.

The Attacker MicroPlug employs the same processing technique like the original Transient Designer. SPL's Differential Envelope Technology has revolutionized dynamic processing with a level-independent method.

This radically different approach allows to forego the setting of a threshold. Other parameters are set automatically and in a musical manner as they follow the characteristics of the input signal. After all, only one control allows to reshape the attack characteristics of a sound.

Working with the Attacker is simple: All attack events can be amplified – regardless of their signal level. However, the possibilities for studio and live applications are seemingly endless.

Usually equalizers are used to separate instruments in a mix. With EQs the tonal aspect of the signal is considered but not the temporal aspect. The Attacker now opens this new dimension in signal processing. By amplifying the attack curves of a sound event, the mix can be made to sound more transparent. Instruments can be mixed at lower levels while still maintaining their positions in the mix—but occupying less space.

The Attacker also offers an output control gain control that allows to compensate for level changes after processing the signal. This ensures a simple and safe adjustment of levels and helps avoiding internal clipping.

Analog Code MicroPlug De-Verb: The Transient Designer's sustain reduction.

The De-Verb MicroPlug employs the same processing technique like the original Transient Designer. SPL's Differential Envelope Technology has revolutionized dynamic processing with a level-independent method.

This radically different approach allows to forego the setting of a threshold. Other parameters are set automatically and in a musical manner as they follow the characteristics of the input signal. After all, only one control allows to reshape the sustain characteristics of a sound.

Working with the De-Verb is simple: All reverb events can be reduced – regardless of their signal level. However, the possibilities for studio and live applications are seemingly endless when reverb curves of any sound event can very simply be reduced to decrease ambience and reverb-tails.

The De-Verb also offers an output gain control that allows to compensate for level changes after processing the signal. This ensures a simple and safe adjustment of levels and helps avoiding internal clipping.

Analog Code MicroPlug Mo-Verb: The Transient Designer's sustain enhancement.

The Mo-Verb MicroPlug employs the same processing technique like the original Transient Designer.

Working with the Mo-Verb is simple: All reverb events can be amplified – regardless of their signal level. However, the possibilities for studio and live applications are seemingly endless when reverb curves of any sound event can very simply be enhanced to emphasize dry ambiences and reverb-tails.

The Mo-Verb also offers an output gain control that allows to compensate for level changes after processing the signal. This ensures a simple and safe adjustment of levels and helps avoiding internal clipping.

SPL.Analog.Code.Transient.Designer.VST.RTAS.v1.1-AiR

The Transient Designer (Model 2880) is based upon the original analog processor from SPL which established the revolutionary concept for level-independent dynamic processing. It is completely different in principle from common compression technologies that are based upon processing signals from a specific signal level.

Mode of Operation and Applications

Thanks to the level-independent processing the setting of a threshold is not necessary. Other common controls of dynamic processing, such as ratio or parameters for time-constants, are automated and optimized adaptively in a musical manner. After all, only two controls allow to completely reshape the attack and sustain characteristics of a sound. Attack can be amplified or attenuated by up to 15dB while sustain can be amplified or attenuated by up to 24 dB.

Working with the Transient Designer is very simple, however, the possibilities for studio and live application are seemingly endless. Thus, in a very obvious and simple way, the Transient Designer opens a whole new dimension in dynamic processing with entirely new and vast possibilities for dynamic manipulation and processing that cannot even be duplicated with several daisy-chained, conventional compressors or other dynamics devices.

SPL.Analog.Code.TwinTube.Processor.VST.RTAS.v1.1-AiR

TwinTube is modeled after an SPL analog hardware processor. In this case the TwinTube processor of SPL's RackPack modular system has been the paragon. The TwinTube combines the two main artifacts that can be produced with tubes: harmonics and saturation effects.

The special qualities of the analog TwinTube are in enhancing nearly any signal with the classic analog sound attributes.

Features:

* SPL modeled plug-in version of a world-class tube effect processor, the TwinTube for saturation and harmonics processing.
* Tube saturation effects can be compared to the benefits from tape saturation.
* SATURATION for more warmth, loudness, subtle to heavy harmonic distortions.
* HARMONICS for more presence, clarity without boosting levels; puts signals in front of a mix.
* Versatile processor for all sorts of signals and sounds, excellent for vocals, acoustic guitars, drums, brass, etc.

SPL.Analog.Code.Vitalizer.MK2-T.VST.RTAS.v1.1-AiR

The Vitalizer MK2-T is an equaliser concept which makes use of scientific psychoacoustic technology to process audio signals. The Vitalizer-technology has been constantly improved over the past nine years since its invention by SPL's Wolfgang Neumann and Hermann Gier. The Vitalizer MK2-T plug-in is modeled after Hermann's (SPL CEO), original privately owned hardware unit.

The hardware unit is described below:

The Stereo Vitalizer MK2-T is the tube version of the successful Stereo Vitalizer MK2. The 'MK2-T' utilises two Sovtek 12AX7-double triode tubes. One of them is used within the Mid-Hi Tune filter and gives the mid frequencies even more accurate transparency with a soft, unobtrusive sound. The second tube is used within the Stereo Expander. The stereo image not only gains more width but also more depth, transparency and clarity because of the pleasant tube harmonics. Great emphasis has been put into maintaining mono-compatibility. The treble range is reworked with new LC-filters, which focus on achieving a smooth, silky sound pattern. High frequencies are livened up extremely noiseless without them sounding hard or aggressive."

As with all Vitalizer models you can choose between a dry, percussive bass (Tight) or a punchy, soft and very deep sound character (Soft). The bass is accentuated without any risk of emphasising the lower mid frequencies unnaturally. An easy to use compressor complements the bass section allowing the correction of level change due to bass processing."

The Stereo Vitalizer MK2-T is especially designed to serve the needs in recording, mastering, cutting and post production work. Used on complete mixes or being inserted into the subgroups to treat specific parts of the mix, the Stereo Vitalizer MK2-T will perform the same task as those esoteric and costly equalisers often used for audio sweetening but with far greater tonal flexibility and at a much lower cost."
