The definitions can be used to update a product locally, or ported to another computer. Username and/or password are not required on the target computer to update the product.
Changes in this version:
1. Since not everyone needs a full set of updates, version 2.0 of ESET Offline Updater now comes in 2 platform dependent editions, each including a full signature database update. The download size has thus been significantly reduced (approx. 28 MB) as requested by many users.
* for ESET NOD32 Antivirus / Smart Security 3 & 4 on Win XP/2000/Vista/Win 7 (32-bit) (approx. 27 MB)
* for ESET NOD32 Antivirus / Smart Security 3 & 4 on Win XP/2000/Vista/Win 7 (64-bit) (approx. 28 MB)
2. Updates for NOD32 2.7 legacy software will no longer be available for regular download.
Warning: Those who - for some reason - need both sets of definitions should make sure they install each set into a separate directory !
Note: no changes will be made to the registry during installation.
When installation has completed, the update source - referred to by ESET as 'update server' - should be properly set within the ESET configuration panel prior to updating the software (please refer to ESET Help file). The product can then be updated offline from that location.
