DVD Catalyst 3 rips movies so they can play on your MP3 player, Smart phone or just about anything else with a color screen.
iPhones, Zunes, Smartphones lack a DVD drive, so to be able to put a movie on these devices, a DVD needs to be changed into something that will work with them. You can buy/rent movie files
from Apple's iTunes store, but these only work with iPod and iPhone devices. If you own a Zune, a PSP or anything else, you can not use iTunes to get your movies. While some companies do offer video downloads one way or another, they usually require you to pay for movies you probably already own on DVD anyway.

How does it work?
DVD Catalyst is super-easy to use. Once you install DVD Catalyst 3 on your (Windows-) computer, it provides you with a few basic options to begin with. Just use the drop-downs on the left to select your device. All the popular brands are represented, as well as a few generic options for certain device groups (Pocket PC's, Netbooks etc)
If you already have a DVD in your computer, DVD Catalyst will automatically find it, otherwise, put a DVD in your computer (and it will be found automatically as well)
Then just click Go, and DVD Catalyst will do it's thing to make the DVD into a video file for your selected device/player.
Once complete, DVD Catalyst will eject the DVD, and all you need to do is transfer the video file to your smartphone, blackberry, zune, zen or iPhone.

Thumbnail Tab in Global Settings. This offers a multitude of options to have DVD Catalyst automatically generate thumbnails from video files after conversion is finished.
Merge / Join option added. You can now join multiple avi files into a single video file. An option to enable this for other file types/dvdtracks added in Global Settings > Advanced, however, it is more reliable for AVI files.
Duplicate / Move up / Move down options added. You can re-order the files/tracks before conversion. With duplicate you can convert a track into a single file as well as split in parts for example.
Split option added. You can now split a video file or DVD track in the middle to create to smaller files of the same playlength.
Screenshot Sequence. In the preview, an option to generate a sequence of screenshots of the selected video/dvd track. Files will be saved in the selected output folder.
"Experimental" conversion profiles added to copy specific file formats. File Copy AVI, File Copy MP4, File Copy MPEG/VOB. Works only with specified file formats, and can be used to copy a DVD to an unmodified MPEG file (Handy for MediaCenter PC's), merge video files without re-encoding etc. For AVI pick the AVI one and so forth. Cropping/resizing options will not result in any changes. File Copy MPEG/VOB can also be used for testing a DVD drive.
Enable Streaming for MP4 files. (Global Settings > Advanced). Enable this to automatically modify the created MP4 files for streaming capabilities. (for use with our soon-to-be-released MP4 Streaming Server application)
Re-ordered CPU Indicator code to make DVDCat work on Linux (wine). DVD Catalyst 3 can run on Linux now if you use "Wine" It works for the most part, but it is a little slower, and black bar removal options do not work. Turn cropping off if you intend to use DVD Catalyst 3 on Linux.
Re-organized "Global Settings". With more new features added, the Global Settings have recieved a few additional tabs, and some options have been moved to a more fitting location.
Modified conversion speed display code for better accuracy. While the conversion speed indication was fairly accurate, it has been modified to be more precise now.
